Mourners belonging to the Oriental Jewry usually prepare a meal for all the family and friends of the deceased on the following commemorative dates:
On the evening before the end of the Shivah, at the end of the Shloshim (30 days) and at the end of the first year of mourning.
During the meal you learn part of the Zohar, you conduct a Torah lesson, you pray for the deceased’s soul and speak about the deceased and reminisce.
